IMPACT OF THE EUROPEAN “RMA BULLETIN” OF NON-RVSM APPROVED AND/OR NON-COMPLIANT ON RVSM OPERATIONS IN THE EUROPEAN AIRSPACE

The European region has implemented an “RMA bulletin”, listing non-RVSM approved aircraft to be shared with the European contracting States. This list includes aircraft which are not RVSM approved (including aircraft that have not been confirmed by States authorities/RMAs as RVSM approved over a predefined period) and/or aircraft non-compliant with performance or long-term monitoring requirements. Inclusion of aircraft in this RMA bulletin may result in the aircraft being denied RVSM flight levels in the European airspace. Thus, to avoid discontinuity of operations in the European RVSM airspace, MAAR urges State CAAs to kindly respond to RVSM approvals confirmation from RMAs in a timely manner.

For operators intending on flying into European airspace, MAAR recommends that you check that we have your aircraft on records and that its RVSM approval is valid. Please notify your State CAA of the absence of RVSM approvals record, if otherwise. Please note that aircraft with expired approvals are considered non-RVSM approved.

Non-RVSM approved State aircraft are allowed in RVSM airspace with a 2,000 ft vertical separation, but shall not include a “W” in the flight plan, or it will be listed in the bulletin otherwise.
