DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal duties and responsibilities of the MAAR are the followings:

  • To establish and maintain a central registry of State RVSM approvals of operators and aircraft using the airspace of the Asia Region;
  • To facilitate the transfer of RVSM approval data to and from other RVSM Regional Monitoring Agencies (RMAs);
  • To provide the Height Keeping Performance (HKP) monitoring service for assessing compliance of operators and aircraft with RVSM HKP requirements in conjunction with RVSM implementation in the Asia Region;
  • To establish and maintain a database containing the results of HKP monitoring, and to provide timely information on changes of monitoring status of aircraft type classifications to State authorities and operators in the Asia Region;
  • To establish and maintain a database containing the results of all altitude deviations of 300 ft or more within the RVSM airspace in the Asia Region;
  • To collect the Traffic Sample Data (TSD) and assess the collision risk regarding the RVSM implementation in the Asia Region, to compose the safety assessment report and submit it to ICAO;
  • To provide the means for identifying non-RVSM approved operators using the RVSM airspace in the Asia Region; and notifying the appropriate State approval authority;
  • To participate in the international meetings relevant to the RVSM safety; and
  • To supports the implementation and continued safe use of RVSM within the Asia Region.
