The COVID-19 has caused a decrease in air transport throughout the world, while the International Air Transport Association (IATA) evaluated global passengers declined by 50-60% last year. Thailand has also faced a slowdown in aviation sector. Mr. Tinnagorn Choowong, the Executive Vice President (Operations) of AEROTHAI said;  "In 2020 AEROTHAI totally accommodated 464,944 flights, fell 55% compared to the year-ago period.  However, flights slightly increased in the final quarter of last year. These were driven by domestic demand. While the second wave of COVID-19 infection may affect the air transport of this year." He added; “According to the IATA's forecast, a full recovery to pre-crisis level will be in 2024. Meanwhile, domestic markets are opening ahead of international markets and passengers appear to prefer short haul travel in the current environment. Scientific advances in fighting the  infection including vaccine could allow a faster recovery." He concluded; “Safety and standard is always the first priority for ourservices. Our staff have been required to strictly follow safety and public health measures."
