Mr. Thaworn Senneam, Deputy Minister of Transport together with his working team visited Betong Airport in Yala province to explore its readiness on 11 September 2020. On this occasion AEROTHAI’s Management reported the construction of Aerodrome Control Tower, and the setting of Air Traffic Management System including the relevant facilities.
Betong Airport is operated by the Department of Airports with the aim to facilitate the transport in the southern area connected to the neighboring country. The airport is expected to serve up to 300,000 passengers annually and it is scheduled to officially open in this December.
AEROTHAI has been entrusted to provide Air Navigation Service. The construction of Aerodrome Control Tower has been completed. Now we are in the process of setting the air navigation system including relevant facilities and preparing our staff to serve the airspace users.
According to the government policy to further develop the southern area, Betong Airport will be a crucial factor for promoting tourism, facilitating Thai-Malaysian border trade and encouraging economic growth.
