The President of AEROTHAI, Mr. Somnuk Rongthong, and the Director General of Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), Group Captain Somsak Khaosuwan, signed the Letter of Agreement (LOA) to strengthen the cooperation on aeronautical meteorology on 18 June 2020.

The President of AEROTHAI said; “This is the most updated version of the agreement between AEROTHAI and TMD which has been developed and adjusted to expand and deepen the scope of cooperation on aeronautical meteorological information. The cooperation is expected to meet the requirement of Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and ICAO’s Global Air Navigation Plan.”

He further explained; “AEROTHAI and TMD staff work closely at every airport. TMD also provides meteorological information including weather forecast, hazardous weather including wind and temperature forecast which enables our Air Traffic Controllers to work effectively. The more connected system and technology together with knowledge sharing have been considered as the key element for further developing aeronautical meteorology of the country.”
“Accurate and timely meteorological information will ensure safety and efficiency of Air Traffic Service and facilitate Air Traffic Flow Management. This will encourage airlines to design their flight plans properly. Strengthen cooperation in terms of both strategic and operational level will support aviation capacity enhancement, on-time performance and cost-effective operating environment for airspace users,” the President concluded.
