AEROTHAI hosted CANSO Asia Pacific Conference, CANSO Global ATM Summit, Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the air navigation-related meetings during 7-14 June 2018 at the Athenee Hotel. Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Transport Minister, delivered the opening remark for Global ATM Summit on 11 June 2018.

The Transport Minister said: “this was a great pleasure for Thailand and AEROTHAI to play the significant role in international aviation community. . Thailand is at one of the best locations in Asia to connect all air travelers to their destinations. Our growth in air traffic is steadily at a constant rate of 6 percent every year. This year we have 1 million flights. In 10 years from now, we expect to have 2 million flights. While 50% of air traffic growth occurred in Asia Pacific. This growth has called for a very careful attention to determine how we will manage the flights as well as collaborate with other stakeholders to assure the optimized services and maximized safety. The Government highlighted aviation industry as a significant part of Thailand 4.0 including air transport strategy for 20 years. Thailand aviation sector emphasize how to increase capacity, air traffic management and airspace management, and strengthen cooperation with aviation partners, especially in ASEAN and Asia Pacific with the aim to structure seamless ATM.” 

The leaders and the delegates of ANSPs from all over the world discussed the present and future of air navigation services both at regional and global level and shared the best practices. The conferences focused on the importance of big data and explored how the ATM Industry can utilize data to provide the critical information, and consistent key performance indicators needed to ensure safety, performance and sustainability. Digitization and effective use and sharing of data in the ATM industry has the potential to transform global ATM performance, bringing huge benefits for airlines and other airspace users in terms of increased efficiency and enhanced safety. Moreover the summit looked at how other industries utilize data and digitization; how the ATM industry can best take advantage of the data revolution; along with some practical examples of how data is being used in the industry.

The aviation-related organizations of Thailand were also invited to share their view on global trend and challenges of aviation industry. The aviation technology suppliers and manufactures including the delegates from International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers' Associations (IFATCA), International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations: IFALPA) and airlines joined as well.

This was the second time for AEROTHAI to function as the host for CANSO Meetings, after the first time 7 years ago, and significantly involved in global aviation community. Apart from the meeting AEROTHAI organized the reception, networking dinners and cultural programs for the delegates and spouses to experience the touch of Thai.
