AEROTHAI Highlights Thailand’s Air Traffic Management Capabilities in Strategic Discussions with CANSO on the Future Direction of Global Aviation

Mr. Surachai Nuprom, Executive Vice President, Acting President of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Limited (AEROTHAI) revealed, following a welcome reception for Mr. Simon Hocquard, President and CEO of Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO), and his delegation during their visit to the AEROTHAI Headquarters for bilateral discussions on air traffic management collaboration, that this visit reflects the confidence that world-class aviation organizations have in Thailand and AEROTHAI’s potential. During the discussion, CANSO expressed interest in learning more about the development of the Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) support system developed by AEROTHAI and deployed in Thailand as well as with other air navigation service providers across the region. The system helps reduce congestion and delays while enhancing airspace utilization efficiency, reflecting the important role of Thailand and AEROTHAI as a leading air navigation service provider in the Asia-Pacific region. Both parties also exchanged views on the future direction of the global aviation industry, including safety standards, technology, air traffic management efficiency, and international cooperation, to accommodate the continuously increasing demand for air travel. Both sides view the future of air traffic management as being increasingly driven by digital technology, automation, and greater international cooperation. In this regard, AEROTHAI stands ready to influence development direction to support safe, efficient, and sustainable growth of the aviation industry at the national, regional, and global levels.

Mr. Surachai Nuprom further stated that AEROTHAI has been a CANSO founding member since 1996. Since then, AEROTHAI has played an active role in driving the direction and operations of CANSO, helping establish it as a key platform for collaboration among air navigation service providers worldwide. AEROTHAI remains committed to advancing collaboration with international aviation organizations. Most recently, Mr. Piyawut Tantimekabut, ATM Expert, Director Level from AEROTHAI, was elected to serve as the Chairperson of the Air Traffic Management Operations Panel of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), becoming the first Thai representative to be elected to this position. This role not only reflects international recognition of the capabilities of Thai personnel but also provides AEROTHAI with opportunities to gain further influence in global standard development and access to advanced knowledge, technologies, and best practices. These can then be applied to further develop air traffic management services, personnel proficiency, and the nation’s safety standards in line with the future direction of the global aviation industry.
